Designed to inspire restaurant industry actions that will improve your company’s bottom line and also be good for the environment. These resources will educate your company on Delaware’s newly implemented universal recycling law signed in July 2010 by Governor Jack Markell and provide you with information and resources as you begin the steps to recycle in Delaware! More and more restaurants are already recycling and employing environmentally friendly practices in their businesses. According to a Delaware Restaurant Association survey, 50% of restaurants are currently recycling (at least some of their waste) in Delaware but that number still falls below the national average of 65% (according to The National Restaurant Association). It is our intent that this website will help educate you on all forms of recycling including emerging trends to recycle organic waste. Delaware is fortunate to have two organic recycling facilities in the state!

Your customers will appreciate your reduction of waste and you will also reduce the cost of running your operation! In the coming weeks and months, we will share local stories, best practices, photos and videos along with practical information to help you and your employees get started. We will also look for ways to promote those who are recycling! According to a National Restaurant Association survey, more than 60% of consumers prefer to patronize restaurants that recycle and more than 51% indicate that they are willing to pay more to eat at restaurants that recycle! Downloadable art and logos are designed so that you can promote your efforts to your customers.
